The client:

The Belling Desk Limited, based in Leeds, are a lead generation firm combining industry trained agents, intelligent diary management and outcome based reporting.

What we did:

Our audit of Leeds City Council data flagged that The Belling Desk were due a reduction on their business rates.

After conducting further analysis, we were able to validate this hypothesis and Ruby reached out.

Iain, the director of The Belling Desk Limited, was initially skeptical and felt like this could be too good to be true.

"I must admit I was dubious as the email seemed to good to be true and I thought maybe a scam, so I asked the questions and checked them out and all seemed above board. Within a month I had £5500 returned from Leeds City Council"

This is a common and very understandable feeling. The logical thought when receiving an email stating there is money due back to you on a no win, no fee basis is "where is the catch?!". We are always transparent in our explanation, which is simple, if we win, there is a fee!

Once Iain understood we do not charge any upfront fees and therefore there was no risk, he gave us the go ahead to proceed.

Upon receiving the instruction, we submitted our application to the council.

The result:

Shortly after submission we received confirmation that our application had been successful. The credit generated from the application was less than we expected, so we investigated this further with the council. We quickly diagnosed the reason for the discrepancy was a slightly misapplication of the relevant legislation by the council.

We flagged this, it was remedied and the credit was increased to the amount we had initially estimated of circa £5,500. A few weeks later, The Belling Desk received their refund back into their bank account.

What our client said:

"[Ruby] reached out via email with regards to getting us some money paid back from our [business rates], I must admit I was dubious as the email seemed to good to be true and I thought maybe a scam, so I asked the questions and checked them out and all seemed above board. Within a month I had £5500 returned from Leeds City Council that I would never have got without Holloway [Bond]. Great Service, Thanks you"
