The client:
Rock Paper Scissors, located in the heart of Hollingbourne, are an award winning barbers.
What we did:
Our target algorithms applied to Maidstone Borough Council data flagged that the barbers could be due a reduction to their business rates.
We conducted further checks of the premises, and of the business itself, which solidified what we had initially identified.
Our account manager Marshall then reached out to Rock Paper Scissors, explained what we had found and we were given the go ahead to proceed.
The result:
We submitted our application and within a week the council agreed, creating a credit on the account.
The credit was less than we anticipated but we were able to swiftly identify that the council had not backdated the reduction as far back as legislation allows. We flagged this and the reduction was then applied back to the legal limit.
Rock Paper Scissors were left with a healthy refund and were also made exempt from business rates moving forward.
