The client:
Oxbury & Company Limited are chartered surveyors with offices in Norwich, Chelmsford and London.
What we did:
Our specialist, bespoke systems which scour Valuation Office Agency data for precedents and anomalies flagged that one of Oxbury's offices could be due a reduction to its rateable value.

We verified our conclusion with further analysis of Oxbury's offices and similar offices in the immediate locality.
Once we were satisfied we had a strong case, Marshall reached out to Oxbury and explained what we had found and how we could help. Oxbury are experienced and respected chartered surveyors and well versed in property and planning; however, business rates and in particular valuation matters are very complex and still can require bespoke assistance.

Once we were given the go ahead, we submitted a comprehensive application to the Valuation Office Agency; explaining why we felt the rateable value was too high, the precedents for the reduction and what we believed the rateable value should be.
The result:
The Valuation Office Agency agreed with our analysis and the rateable value was reduced to what we requested. This reduction was backdated to 1st April 2023 creating a refund for Oxbury.
