The client:
Ignition Sports Media design and print programmes for over 50 professional sports clubs. They are market leaders, delivering on average over 3.7 million programmes across 1,468 matches every year.
What we did:
Following an audit of data provided by the Cornwall Council, we identified an opportunity to reduce Ignition's business rates liabilities. We then conducted further research into Ignition, their sister companies and the portfolio of properties occupied by the group of businesses. As this solidified what our initial audit had identified, our account manager Marshall approached them offering our services.
"Marshall was very knowledgeable, helpful and speedy in submitting our claim"
Upon instruction, we begun discussions with the local authority, presenting our assertions that Ignition had been overcharged on their business rates.
The result:
After in depth conversations with the council explaining Ignition's eligibility, our application was successful. A credit was subsequently generated but the figure did not match with our estimates.
We diagnosed the issue and contested the credit with the council, who agreed with our conclusion and increased the refund.
Consequently, Ignition received a sizeable refund and their rates were reduced to nil moving forward.
What our client said:
"Marshall was very knowledgeable, helpful and speedy in submitting our claim which was resolved and repaid to our company very quickly."
