The client:
GR Hotels are a group of niche hotels based in unique properties in idyllic UK settings.
What we did:
Our work focused on a specific guest house within the group based in Grassington, Skipton.
Our analysis of data from Craven District Council flagged that Grassington Lodge was potentially eligible for a reduction to its business rates.
Further research confirmed this initial assertion so we reached out to the group and explained what we had discovered and the next steps.
The result:
We submitted our application for Grassington Lodge which was accepted just two weeks later, generating a credit due back to the group.
The credit generated from our initial application was far less than we estimated. We queried this with the local authority and were able to diagnose the cause- in the process of applying a reduction to the guest house, the council had removed another.
We flagged this to the council, who were quick to rectify their mistake, creating a further credit that brought the total in line with our estimates.
What our client said:
"Mr [Marshall] Gee took us through the process in a clear and precise and professional manner.
The outcome was very satisfactory.
We hope this is first of many collaborations to come."
