The client:
The Gaping Goose located on Selby Road in Garforth is busy, traditional pub serving a selection of real cask ales and lagers.
What we did:
Analysis of data provided by Leeds City Council flagged an opportunity to reduce The Gaping Goose's business rates liability.
Further research confirmed what the data was showing so we got in touch with pub. Ruby explained what we had identified and what the next steps were.
Once instructed, as we had already conducted our research prior to reaching out, we were able to swiftly proceed, submitting our application to the local authority.
The result:
The local authority agreed with our application. This generated a refund of over £4,000 sent directly to the pub and reduced their business rates for this year by around £2,000.

Due to the nature of the relief awarded to The Gaping Goose, this reduction is effectively locked in place until 2029.

Within a couple of weeks, I was advised that I would receive a refund of £4242.55 on previous years Business rates in addition to a £2K reduction on my current years business rates. As I understand it, this reduction will continue over the next few years."
