Crisp Vocational Provision Limited

The client:

Crisp Vocational Provision Limited offers young people the opportunity to participate in personalised learning sessions, which are tailored to the specific needs of the young person and their School.


What we did:

Following our audit of Nottingham City Council and Valuation Office Agency data, we identified that Crisp Vocational Provision were receiving two bills for two units within the same business park. Our analysis suggested it could be argued that these units would benefit from a lower overall price per m2 if we were able to combine them into a single valuation.

We conducted further forensic analysis of the data, real life factors and the relevant legislation and then approached Crisp Vocational Provision only when we were confident we could succeed with our case.


Once given the go ahead, we submitted an application to the Valuation Office Agency, who ultimately agreed with our argument; combining the units and lowering the overall price. By lowering the price, the rateable value of the units fell to a number eligible for further relief. We then applied this relief on behalf of Crisp Vocational Provision.


This led to a significant refund back to 2017, as well as reduced rates moving forward.
